A presença síria na cidade do Rio de Janeiro: uma análise socioespacial

Abstract

Considering that it is important to analyze the syrian immigration and their implications to Rio de Janeiro’ city, this paper aims to comprehend the syrian relation with the carioca city, analyzing the historical context of this immigration and the syrian fixation in it. Therefore, it was necessary do interviews with immigrants, descendants e representatives of welcoming institutions; do a documental and bibliographic revision; analyze collected dates; map, at Google Earth,  arab food stalls present in Rio de Janeiro’s city and the neighborhoods they are,  at qgis. With this, it was possible to observe that syrian immigrants have a large distribution and fixation at Rio, the arab food stalls are a current expression of this immigrants in the city, what allows  us to conclude that this population has an the a important paper in the socio-economic-spatial constitution in the Rio de Janeiro’s city.
