Brazil is one of the most affected countries by the Covid-19 pandemic since its beginning in 2020. However, it has profoundly and unequally impacted the population of this country. This paper explores the effects of the pandemic on the migrant and refugee population in the city of Rio de Janeiro and the actions of local civil society organizations in this scenario. The study of the local scale is relevant because it is in these territories that migrant people live, have access to rights and services, and experience more immediate difficulties and challenges in the urban fabric of a large city. Methodologically, the research is focused on a qualitative approach that brings a literature review of specialized bibliography, document analysis and secondary data, as well as semi-structured interviews, conducted in 2021 and 2022, with key informants from civil society organizations working in the care of migrants and refugees in the city of Rio de Janeiro.
