This paper aims at understanding the relationship between the formation of cultural meaning and role of Japanese women and their families in the colony Gleba Rio Ferro -MT. They are children of Japanese immigrants who migrated to Brazil before World War II and remained in the cities of Marilia -SP and Assaí -PR until 1952, moment this that their families have acquired plots of land in private colonization project conducted by Settler Rio Ferro Ltda. in the State of Mato Grosso. Therefore, oral history is used as a methodology in interpreting the experiences of the migration process and the establishment of families in the new area of occupation.
