Abstract

The text examines aspects of the phenomenon of Brazilian workers who emigrate to Italy; it emphasizes the role of formal and informal networks involved in this process as well as the emotional and cultural horizons which connect the spaces of origin to the destinati on. It also shows that the migrati on - especially of people from South Brazil, with Italian ancestry - is enrolled in the arc of politi cal strategies of Lega Nord in order to att ract selective workforce. However, promises like the doubleciti zenship do not always come true and many immigrants end up staying in the country as undocumented.
