Abstract

This work is a kinship study undertook on a small rural community involved in the manufacturing of hammocks. It's an ethnography about kin relati ons between brothers living in a rural community in ParaÌba and traveling for trade through Maranhão and Pará. The aim of this paper is to show how kin relati ons are intrinsically connected to trade relati ons and the similariti es and diff erences that are so established. Such experiences are responsible for the sense of family, the social status and the inserti on in capitalist society.
