Abstract

In this text, I intend to examine the relations between, on the one hand, global policies that equate undocumented migration with drug trafficking, organized crime and international terrorism, and, on the other, the formulation of migratory policies and border control in Brazil, since to COMIGRAR, in the light of these tensions between human rights and securitization. With this in mind, I will devote special attention to the ways in which the contradictions and tensions inherent in the simultaneous notion of protection of immigrants and protection of frontiers have engendered victimization, criminalization and violence, as well as the current processes of increasing criminalization of people and militarized control of borders and cities, which are also inherent in current global policies.
