Abstract

Our proposal in this article is not to understand migrations, but migrants, as active social subjects of migratory processes. They are not passive agents of structural forces or of factors of “expulsion” or “attraction”, nor simple work force, but constitute themselves as subjects in the experience of displacements, in the work spaces, in the family, or in the forms of associative organization and politics and sociability practices (Fontes 2004; Alvim, 1997).
