There is a relation between Daoism and Brazil since the colonial period, but it was limited for indirect interactions by way of texts and arts. It is only with the arrival of Chinese immigrants coming from Taiwan that we may say that Daoism comes to Brazil as a living tradition. The type of immigrant from Taiwan was characterized by already having professional skills, among them Chinese practices and traditional knowledge. In this study we show how and what traditional Daoist expressions arrived in Brazil, specifically in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. The goal is to contextualize historical and sociologically the Daoist presence which arrived here by Taiwanese immigrants.
